How to list products on Amazon

Are you looking for effective and easy ways to list your product on Amazon! Then you are at the right place to learn how to list products on Amazon.

Some Preliminary steps for Product listing:

There are some prior steps that you have to follow before listing your product on Amazon are discussed below.

UPC Code:

It is a Unique Product Code identifier. You have to buy this code before listing of your product. You have to put this code at a specific place when you are listing the product. It is a long series of numbers and a graphic that checkout staff scan in order to make a sale. Code can be purchased from different websites but the websites should be trusted and genuine. One of the most established sites to buy UPC codes is GS11 which is recommended by

Amazon. If you have variations in your products, then you have to buy the UPC individually for each variation.

Pictures:

Pictures of the products which you need to upload while doing a listing of the product are equally important for listing. Fine and clear pictures are needed to accompany your listing. The picture should contain 1000 pixels and this criterion is given by Amazon. You have to place a white background while making images. You can also take help from Google online tools to alter your image and four photographs are necessary against each product listing.

Weight and Dimensions of the Product:

While listing your product on Amazon, first you have to check the weight and dimensions of your competitor’s product. Your listing will be considered as a cheat if the dimension or weight is the same as your competitor’s product.

Keywords:

Keywords are target words within your listing which will be searched by your potential buyer when looking to make a purchase. There are various tools available to find the keywords for any specific product and amazon also provides the option of finding keywords by using Amazon’s auto-suggest tool. The best approach for using keywords is to use as many as you can but be attentive that there will be no repetition in those selected keywords.

Category:

After getting all the product essentials, the next step is to select the related category in which you want to sell your product. While choosing the category, you should select the same category as similar products which are best-sellers. Check the bestselling items similar to your product and select category and subcategory accordingly.

It’s time to list your product!

Follow these simple steps for product listing on Amazon,

  1. Go to the Dashboard of your Amazon Seller Central page.
  2. Click on Inventory.
  3. Click on Add A Product.
  4. Click on Create A New Product Listing.

Among all Product Categories pull-down, select the primary category which applies to your product.

Add in the categories and sub-categories – aren’t you glad that you already gathered this information earlier?

  1. Click Select on the appropriate category.
  2. You will now be redirected to the setup page for the listing.
  3. Toggle to ‘Advanced View’.
  4. Find the Vital Info page and complete each of the fields as appropriate.
  5. Find the Offer page and complete each of the fields as appropriate.
  6. Find the Description page and complete each of the fields as appropriate.
Listing with Variation:

Follow these simple steps to create a new variation listing:

  1. Select Add a Product from the Inventory drop-down.
  2. Click I’m adding a product not sold on Amazon.
  3. Search or browse for the category that matches the product you want to sell and click the Select category button.
  4. On the Vital info tab, complete the required fields (marked with an asterisk *).
  5. In the next tab of Variations, select a theme from the Variation Theme drop-down list.
  6. Select the appropriate variation theme that you think is relevant for the products you are listing.

Note: The Variation Theme drop-down list and Variations tab will appear only if you are selling in a product category that supports variations. Once you have created a product with a selected variation theme, you will not be able to change the variation theme.

You will be prompted to enter values for the chosen variation theme. For example, if the variation theme selected is color, you can enter values like red, blue, white, etc.

Click on Generate variations. A Variations Matrix appears, allowing you to add more detail for each variation combination.

A product identifier (EAN or UPC) is required for each variation.

While not required, a seller SKU will be automatically generated for you if you do not add one.

Provide all offer details for each product such as condition, price, and quantity.

To delete variations, check the box corresponding to the listing and click on Delete Selection.

In the remaining tabs, add images, product descriptions, keywords, and other product attributes. This information will appear in all variations of the product you want to sell. You can edit product information at any time on the Manage Inventory page.

Click Save and finish when all the product information is entered.
